As promised, I'm posting my 2 Matchbox models Today.
I finally received my 2 models I bought off ebay. I finished them 2 days ago, so here they are.
First is the Churchill Bridge Layer Tank. It's 1/76 scale and was a pretty-good build.
I had some trouble connecting the bridge to the Tank with the wire. I think it doesn't look all that realistic because of the fact the wire isn't pulled out straight. If you're wondering why I think this, it's because with the real thing, when pulling the bridge up or down, it would have been pulled really tight. Mine however isn't tight and that's why I don't like it. You may have noticed that I like being really precise with my latest models. Anyway, here is the Churchill.
Now you know about that, I'll tell you about the Char bis and Renault that I also got from ebay.
They're both in the same kit and in 1/76 scale. I really like this kit because of the large base and the 4 people it came with. Once all of the pieces were glued and painted, I glued the tanks and people onto the base. I think it looks really good once it's all together and i'm pretty happy with detail and realisticness.
here it is.
Until next time,
James.G
James, I think your models are fabulous! I enjoyed reading your post and thoughts about them both too,

Great work, James.
I am in the process of building the French tank set, I got an old Matchbox edition from eBay. I am in the process of collecting them all, and have purchased all of the Revell re-releases and I am hunting down on eBay older Matchbox editions of the few that Revell didn't release again. I got the Stuart/Honey Tank and the Panzer-III Tank. My several attempts at bidding on a Panther G were un-successful but I managed to purchase a base from that kit, so I am cheating a bit by building a 1/76 Airfix kit of the Panther and scratch-building the little tree. At present, I am bidding on the German Sdfz-222 Radio-Armoured Car. This is the fourth time I've tried (the last one I tried to get went for nearly $40 Australian!) so wish me luck!

I think my sentimental favourites of the Matchbox AFV series were the Wespe, the Hanomag, the Stuart and the Humber. The old original box-art illustrations were just brillant, good enough to hang on a wall. Box art just isn't the same nowadays- just look at the dreary-dull efforts that Revell put on the boxes for their re-releases. The standard rule was that the smaller the vehicle, the more extras you got for the diorama base, hence the more detailed bases for smaller vehicles like the Humber, the Sdfz-222 & Puma armoured cars and the Panzer-II. Thats why the largest vehicle of the series- the Churchill AVRE- got probably the most basic diorama base of the series.
