One of the projects that I really want to finish this year (and have framed for the wall) is my 49 square embroidery. I got it out of the cupboard today, sat, stitched and sipped tea for a good hour. Just me & my embroidery. It was so lovely!
A little babushka doll for one square:

Hot tea in a spotty cup and saucer:
And that was that. Three more squares complete and nineteen squares to go.
Righty ho, it's back to the ripple blanket for me!

I actually sat down at my sewing machine late last week and whipped myself up a new lunch bag. It came together quickly and I also made good use of some cute apple fabric that I've had hiding in the cupboard for well over a year.
My other lunch bag was tiny and slightly annoying because there was no room for my sandwich Tupperware container, so this time around I used Martha Stewart's oilcloth pattern and it's a fantastic size. I'll just throw it in the washing machine every so often!

Yesterday was Easter bunny making day at my house:
Hooray! One bunny all happy and sewn:

That's my happy Easter sewing all done and dusted. Tell me, do you make goodies for Easter, give chocolate eggs or perhaps not celebrate at all?

My girl made mittens on Thursday.
Sweet, warm and delicious mittens.
She delved into my felted jumper stash that I've been slowly building up - I machine stitched them together for her and she hand stitched on the heart.
Sure, we're still in the middle of summer here right now, but I'm sure winter won't be far away. Sigh.

Here are the remainder of my embroidered squares that I finished at camp. I started that extra square last night, but flaked it before it was done. Ahh, well. Hoping to finish that one off today - it's a babushka doll.
Here are the other squares. Excuse the blue pen that's still showing on each square, I haven't had a chance to wash it off yet.
This little owl is one of my favourite squares, inspired by our camping trip. No, we didn't see any owls, but camping and owls seem to go hand in hand. Yes?
The pinwheel was drawn on late at night and I started stitching in the dim caravan light. After a few stitches I realised that it was turning out to be slightly off centre, so I added in the little brown dashes of wind, to even it all up a bit.
The last square was a simple heart and I'm quite fond of the colour combination for this one.
That's all for now. We're off to see Hugo at the movies today - have you seen it? I'm positively excited after watching the trailer.

One of the other projects that I packed for camping, was my long term embroidery. I say long term because I started it back in March 2010 and then lost interest. As you do.
I squeezed four more squares in while we were camping, the first one was a little caravan.
I haven't photographed the other squares yet, but I will soon. If all goes well, I might even have a couple of extra to share. I really want to get this finished and turned into a cushion, soon!

Today I have several projects on my desk and they're overflowing to the floor as well. We desperately need a dust catcher on the caravan door, so I just went with this heavy duty fabric that I had in the cupboard. I'm not really that fond of it actually, but I needed something f-a-s-t because we're heading away soon AND it's really just for a dust catcher, after all.
The floor is covered with plain fabric for the van curtains. They're cut out to size & today I'm going to start pinning, hemming and sewing them all up. There's nothing quite like leaving curtains to the last possible minute!
I have craft packing to do too. I'm going to use this laminated bag that I bought in Kuala Lumpur & fill it full of half finished projects to do. I only have a million of them to choose from...

On my desk this week - fabric hexagons!
One of my big goals for 2012 is to squeeze in more crafting and complete a few of the unfinished projects that I have hidden away in the cupboard. Of course, being a brand new year it was very tempting to start something fresh, but I decided to begin January by plodding away at something from the incomplete pile.
Early on in 2011, I hand sewed what seemed like a million hexagons together into a square. But, the square was too big for what I have in mind now, so hello stitch ripper!
Then, it was onto pulling out all of those pesky cardboard hexagons...
And finally time to pop it all in a huge hoop for the final wave of stitching:
Right now I'm slowly working my way through hand quilting all of hexagons into place, then onto sewing up the square into a cushion for the caravan. Maybe even later this week, if I can stay on track!
