After the groceries, cleaning up, washing, bill paying and dinner organising today, it was time to do a little bit more caravan sprucing up!
I started with an inspiration board of sorts for Bella, just above her bed. We'd discussed creating her one when we first bought the caravan and have been collecting all sorts of goodness to put up - Belle and Boo postcards, Scrapps Flea Market prints and other random postcards that have arrived in our mail box. It only stretches about a third of the way along her bed at the moment, which is okay because it means extra room for adding on later.

Tucked around the corner (near our double bed) I decided to start a photo board of trips away in the caravan, plus I threw a few new magazines in our magazine holders. A few people asked about the holders on instagram a while ago. They're just cheap wire racks that I bought from the local hardware store - probably meant to hold foil or cling wrap in the kitchen - but they're also the perfect size for books, etc..

The one thing that keeps bugging me, is the messy shelf that runs along and above the double bed. You can see it below in the photo - holding a toiletries bag, game and a couple of the fabric storage baskets that I made. Do you have suggestions on how I can make this look more streamlined?? I just don't have a good idea for it and I'm not loving the way it is right now.

Another thing that has been bugging me (I know, two things!!) was an ugly pine beam that was holding up the bunk bed, plus the piece of MDF on the side of the bed. So, I took it upon myself to give it two coats of undercoat today. Yes!!
Do not tell Mr Goodsell though because I couldn't be bothered (shock!) finding undercoat in the shed, so I whipped out my trusty scrapbooking white gesso paint and used that instead. I'm positively sure it will do the same thing. I also decided the top coat is going to be a sunshiny yellow, so I found a sampler paint that we had of bright yellow and kept on adding my trusty scrapbooking gesso to it, until the colour looked right. Goodness only knows how this will hold - another reason I am not saying a word about this whole thing to Mr Goodsell just yet. He only reads my blog every week or so and I'm sure he skims over the writing, so GO me and my Gesso. He will never be any the wiser, until the paint possibly peels off and he has to sand the entire thing back for me. Oops.
So..here is my progress - and no I did not worry about removing the linen to paint. I'm a very careful painter.

Well, I did flip the bottom mattress on it's side out of the way - it seemed like the right thing to do.

So, that was my afternoon! I hope yours was nice. I will share my sunshine yellow corner of the van, once it's all finished.
Don't forget that I'm in dire need of suggestions for that messy corner!
Yours in renovating caravans - the easy peasy way,
