What a lovely response to the ripple-along so far! This is going to be such a fun project and super inspiring to be hooking alongside a group of people all working on the same ripple blanket.
Last night I spent f-o-r-e-v-e-r trying to settle on a colour combination. The blanket is going to be a gift for my little niece this Christmas and I wanted something that was fun and happy, so I've settled on a mini rainbow of colours with white stripes every second row. I've seen quite a few blankets completed with the plain white between each colour and I really love the look - I hope my niece does too!
I'll be using the Moda Vera 8 ply pure wool again and I'm going to cast on 199 chain this time and work 42 bands of colour - each band will have two rows. I'm hoping this will give me a blanket about 110cm in width and a metre in length, which is a nice size for sofa snuggling or keeping Bonnie's little self warm.
When the blanket is all finished it will be a repeat of red, white, hot pink, white, orange, white, yellow, white, lime green, white, turquoise, white, purple, white and then back to the red again.
Here's my action plan for the blanket:
- 1st week - 14 bands of colour .... because it's always exciting to start a new blanket!
- 2nd week - 9 bands of colour
- 3rd week - 7 bands of colour (1 band per day)
- 4th week - 7 bands of colour (1 band per day)
- 5th week - final 5 bands of colour
I know when I had an action plan in my head for finishing the baby ripple it worked for me perfectly, so I'm hoping this one will too. Eek! I'm excited that in 5 weeks I'll have my first handmade Christmas present finished and then I'll be able to start work on another small one for my nephew.
