I've blogged several times before about how much we adore a good board game and Scrabble (by Mattel) is probably the very first board game that we owned and loved as a family. I have fond memories of playing this when I was still living at home with my Mum and now it's a great boredom buster game for non T.V. nights, camping and a good way to get the mind active!
During the game we are forever trying to sneak down words that aren't real though - the out cry of 'NO!!' from the opposition when this happens is priceless. Other times the dictionary comes out to confirm or deny words on the playing mat. If you can ever make a seven letter word that uses all of your letters, it's an exciting time - Sadly, I've only mastered that a few times over our years of Scrabble playing.
When both of our children were small, we owned Junior Scrabble but now Bella is 10 we've moved up in the Scrabble world and are all playing the adult version. It's lovely when Bella's big brother will have a game with her too - sometimes he's *big brother naughty* though and will sneak made up words on the board, giving her a made up meaning for them as well.
If you aren't familiar with Scrabble, it's a very simple game to play - challenging and fantastic for mind sharpening and good old fashioned family fun. You can play from 2 players up to 4 and the game comes with everything you'll need - including a little fabric bag to store the letters in.
The lovely team at Mattel are giving one of my lucky readers their very own Scrabble board game. With Christmas just around the corner (eek, I know!) this would be a fabulous gift for a young person or an adult - so don't feel that if you already have this game at home that you can't enter! I'm all for populating the entire world with Scrabble sets, it's just a great game!
To win, leave a comment on this post telling me who you would like to give the Scrabble set to OR do you want to keep it for yourself?
Entry is open to Australian residents only. Terms & conditions can be read HERE. Competition closes at 5:00 pm AEDST on 28th October, 2011.
Good luck!
