As promised, here are some photos of my mini travel album.
I covered the front and back piece of chipboard with an old world map that we had here, highlighting Hong Kong with a tiny paper arrow and hand drawn circle.
As far as size goes, I ended up going slightly larger than 5" X 7", mainly so that I can add 5x7 photos inside without any overhang. Everything I used was from my scrapbooking stash, except for the manilla shipping tags - I picked those up at the newsagency the other day.
I've just stapled the circular chipboard (on the right) into position on one side - so I can lift it up and add tiny photos underneath. I'm hoping to buy an Instax camera while I'm in Hong Kong - so they'll be twenty million business card photos to find a home for when we arrive back. Of course I'm taking our normal camera too, so they'll be a variety of photos for scrapbooking.
The zip lock bags were scrapbooking ones that I had here. I thought they'd be cute to hold some Hong Kong coins as a keepsake and other little treasures that I find along the way.
There are loads of pages that I haven't shared too, but they'll all pretty much the same theme - tags, pockets, plain cardstock and journaling space. I've never taken scrapbooking away with me to do before, so it's a pretty new concept for me. Of course I'll be adding the final touches when I get back home, but on the road I'm planning on recording our days and adding postcards and other ephemera (to the album) at the end of each day.
Below is a snap shot of what I've got packed in my bag to take - the album, glue, tape, hole punch, pen, mini stapler and a pair of scissors (not shown).
If all is well, we should be hot footing it to Hong Kong later this evening. You can follow my journey on twitter while we're away - I'll be tweeting photos of our trip once we arrive. The blog will continue to tick over while I'm away too - there are pretty much daily posts scheduled for the majority of our holiday.
Take care, Mel xoxo
