Bella had a sleep over at her Nanny Marion's house the other night (plus Pop) and was so excited to show me her new craft project upon arriving home. Her Nan gave her a long stitch kit that she had in the cupboard and also gave her a lesson on how to do the stitches.
I'd never done long stitch before, but Bella let me try out a few stitches and I really enjoyed it. I'm actually itching to start my own (or perhaps a tapestry instead) but I need to track down one that's super cute/funky first!
The Charley Harper tapestry sets over at Purl Soho are ever so beautiful. Above is the Charley Harper Bluebird one - out of stock, but I love it.
I also found some pretty sets by other designers, like this Flora & Fauna design - ouch, it's a tad out of my budget, but a really lovely size and would be gorgeous stitched up in some funky colours. That's another thing that I'm discovering, most of the gorgeous sets online seem to come without thread. I guess it's nice because you can go with your own colour scheme, but how do you know how much thread to order??
Purl Soho also have two cute kits for kids (they come with thread too) - this flower and also a bright yellow rubber duckie one. Sweet.
Then, I started searching other places on the web for cute tapestry kits and found the one above - also Charley Harper. Definitely one of my favourites. {Source}
Actually, this Charley Harper squirrel kills me too. {Source}
Super cute retro owls kit (includes tapestry threads). {Source}
Possibly my most favourite design is the Black Boxing Hares kit that I found. Love, love. {Source} They would look super cute on my couch if I stitched them in chocolate thread, instead of the black.
What I did discover is that there don't seem to be a lot of super cute/modern designs out there for crafters, which is highly frustrating when I want to start a new project and there aren't many options. Unless I'm looking in all the wrong places?? Highly possible!
It's probably a good thing really, I need to stay focused on getting these crochet blankets finished, they are both so close to completion :)
