Thankyou all very much for your kind comments, emails and twitter love regarding the magazine!! Here are some answers to a few questions that were asked:
Where can I subscribe? This is a one off publication so there are no subscriptions available.
When is the magazine for sale? Good question! I'm sorry but I'm unsure until I hear back from the publisher. My copy arrived in the mail yesterday, which was a lovely surprise - I'm also guessing that means that the issue will be available very soon. I'll let everyone know as soon as I find out.
Can I purchase the magazine online? I'll have to get back to you on this question until I hear back from the publisher.
Where can I buy the magazine? All good newsagencies - I'll let you know if it can be purchased elsewhere soon.
Again, thankyou so much for your nice comments. I'll share more of the projects here soon and run the give away this Friday.
Now, onto today. I've been meaning to pickle some onions for well over a year now, but have never quite got around to it or found the small pickling onions that were needed. The other day I came across some at a local store (including some cheap lemons to make more lemon cordial) and finally got my act together to give it a whirl.
I'm not sure why, but I thought it would be a fiddly process. It's actually quite easy, just time consuming while you wait 24 hours for the onions to sit in the brining solution and then another 3 hours after that for the spiced vinegar to infuse. Tonight I bottled them up and now we just need to wait a bit longer before they're ready for tasting (2 months!!).
I also bottled some stewed apple, made a batch of easy rocky road and a stack of shortbread creams for the freezer. Tomorrow is a fresh batch of playdough for Bella, lemon cordial and a loaf of bread. I hope this cooking patch holds up a few more days because I have a dozen things ear marked to do in my cookbook.
P.S. Pickled onion recipe from Sally Wise's book: A year in a bottle.
