Hello friends, thankyou for joining Fiona and I on our first day of the Egg-ceptional Egg-xtravaganza. Today I'm sharing a bunny card tutorial and if you pop over to Fiona's post here you'll find a lovely bunny tag step by step project.
To create this project you will need the following:
card
felt
embroidery cotton & needle or sewing machine
2 small buttons
scissors & pins
double sided tape or strong adhesive
The rabbit on the sample card above has been blanket stitched around, but another option is to use the sewing machine and machine stitch the bunny into position. You could also do a paper version of the card by machine stitching paper (for the bunny) onto a piece of felt, fabric or patterned paper background.
To begin, print out the pdf below, which contains the template for the bunny:
Cut out all the pieces of felt as shown on the template.
The above sample has been machine stitched into position. If you're going to machine stitch the bunny onto the felt background, pin each piece into position first. Also machine stitch around the outer edge of the felt background, aprroximately 6mm in from the outer edge. For the blanket stitched version, blanket stitch each piece of the bunny seperately and then adhere onto the felt background - only adhering the very bottom of the ears so that the tops can curl up slightly (refer to photograph below).
Hand stitch on the two button eyes and mouth. Blanket stitch around the felt background before adhering onto the card. You can find a blanket stitch tutorial on You Tube here.
Thanks for popping by, we'll hopefully see you again soon for the next Easter project. If you make an Easter card or tag, leave a comment here on the blog with a link to your project. We'd love to share your creations as well.

This is so cute! I think I'll make one.

That's great Melissa - can an 8 and 9 year old boy do this do you think. We've never done *anything* like this before but with your wonderful instructions and youtube link I think we might try it. Looking forward to the rest of your Egg-ceptional Egg-xtravaganza!!

That is so cute! Its such a simple idea but so effective.
I've responded to your question re: slave-free Easter eggs on my blog (wrote a new post about it), but the short answer is that Chocolatier does have a Fairtrade range of Easter eggs (as well as slave ones too) - so if the eggs have a Fairtrade logo, then its slave-free!

Awesome bunny/egg card! Colors are great. Would be really cute to cut him out of recycled wallpaper books, too! Thanks for the tute.
