This is what early morning looks like at our house. Two children + two home made quilts.
Every. Single. Morning.
One of them is just moments out of bed, the other showered and dressed for school, but the quilts come out regardless. They've been doing it since they were tiny. Friends and family giggle and tease them quite often about their extreme fondness of quilts.
Sometimes it can feel like 30 degrees inside, but the quilts still come out. Sometimes I get cross because it feels like I'm hand washing them every second week - they drag them along the floor, try and sneak them outside - all sorts of things that cause quilts to get grotty and in dire need of a wash. Sometimes in past years (when James was smaller) there have been tears because someone has a quilt that they aren't supposed to be touching or using.
We've made cubby houses with them, used them for playtime on the floor and when the kids were really small they sometimes begged Rich to roll them up like a mummy as tight as he possibly could.
And while I'm on the subject of handmade goodness, there were a lot of questions about Bella's fabric dolls house from a few posts back:
Yes, it opens up so you can play with it and here is the free tutorial link for you all to make one too.
