When bread machines were all the rage years ago I bought one and soon became quite disappointed with the taste of the bread that I could never quite seem to master. I tried several different recipes, changed yeast and other ingredients around but although the bread always behaved and rose like it should, the taste was just never quite right. I think the bread machine did the ring around the family too over the years while everyone else had a play with it and pretty soon discovered that they also didn't enjoy the taste.
Since then I'd always wanted to try baking my own bread in the oven, but never quite got around to it and truth be known it just seemed plain hard with all that kneading and rising and waiting and hoping and baking and hoping and finally eating. But then a few months ago I started seeing this book floating around some of the blogs that I read. There were photos of the yummiest looking bread, freshly baked from the oven and everyone was saying really awesome things about the book. So, I ordered the book from the library wondering if it was really as fab as what people had been saying. Well, it is!
Here's our first loaf cooked today. We loved it. Nice, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, perfect tasting, yummy - I can't rave enough. The best bit is there is no kneading involved, nope not one bit :)
I'm asking for this book for Christmas now ofcourse, it's a must have!
