We all huddled around the radio listening to the school announcements this morning, James anxiously hoping school would be cancelled due to the snow so he could have a veg out day at home. Good news. The school was running on skeleton staff and put a call out asking parents to keep their children home if possible. YES!
Seemed like a nice opportunity to make a puppet theatre (now named Goodsell Theatre) together. We used an old postbox, cut it up, covered it with cardboard, added some cuteness and I made a little pair of curtains (every good stage needs curtains!).
James and Bella set to work making puppets for the theatre. We're resting up to have lunch at the moment (and do a quick blog post lol), but this afternoon they have big plans to make more puppets.
We also made up a mini batch of freckles with some organic chocolate and hundreds and thousands. They're cooling in the fridge - we'll eat them this afternoon with warm tea and hot chocolate.
Yep, Bella is still wearing her pyjama bottoms with that jacket - she was so excited to know it was snowing (although it didn't settle at our house) - "yay Mummy, can I stay in my pyjamas all day and have a pyjama party?" Sure you can Bella :)

I think you need to write a book with all of the ideas and activities you do with your kids. you have some brilliant ideas and activities! The felt food, salt dough creatures, puffy paint, cooking and the puppet theater and puppets. And you already have the pictures of the finished products for the book. Put me down for one copy when it's published!

oh snow days...we have many here in NY. Last year the new superintendent decided no snow days for the city schools while all the other districts were closed...bummer. What a great way to spend the day baking and making puppet theaters!

oh how fun! I bet the kids had the very best snow day with this great project!
I havebeen searching all over for a puppet theater for Zoe for Christmas (for hand puppets) and all I can find is the doorway version...which we would not be able to use. Maybe making one is just the ticket!

forgive my american ignorance, but what are "freckles" and "hundreds and thousands"?
i'm guessing that "hundreds and thousands" are what i'd call "sprinkles." but i'd love to get my hands on the recipe for your "freckles," as i'm a sucker for all things chocolate!
btw, it's so much fun to read about your winter adventures in august. it's a hot & humid summer here in southern california!

OOOh, I love your curtain for the puppet theater. We made something like this a few weeks (months?) ago and it was as much fun for me as it was for the kiddios!
