Holiday activity - puff paint in the microwave

Img_0049This is really cool and super quick/easy.  Combine the following in a little bowl:

  • 1 tablespoon self-raising flour
  • a few little drops of food colouring
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • Then add some water to make a nice smooth paste.

Paint away on a nice thick sheet of cardboard (if you don't have enough paint brushes use cotton buds - they work really well).

Microwave the design on high for 10 - 30 seconds until the paint puffs and it's all nice and dry.  We did ours for 30 seconds.

you can also do puff paint with equal parts shaving cream and white glue and a few drops of food coloring...it is really great for younger kids because it is really fun to spear aound with your hands and then it dries perfectly puffy in about 1hr.

totally awesome!!! we have a snow day today and this is what we'll be doing! Thanx so much!!

Very cool! I'm going to have to make some!

My kids will love doing this craft.

I'm Australian and 58 yrs old. My mum made powdered milk icecream when I was a kid from this recipe:
Mix 4 heaped tablespoons sunshine powdered milk with 3 tablespoons cold water to paste. Add ½ cup sugar and 2 cups of cows milk and vanilla essence. Lastly add 2 teaspoons gelatine dissolved in ¼ cup hot water. Beat well, place in trays in freezer. When icecream is beginning to set, remove from trays and beat, return to trays and freeze.
    Cheers, hope it helps, Robbie.

Thank You, we love that craft. We did & share in our blog, But it is unfortunately in Turkish, anyway, you can look at the photos
